You are Uniquely His
I went for a ride the other day, and as I was enjoying the view, the smells, and just plan riding, I looked down at my bike. It was covered with a lot dust. The weather has been pretty cold here in Tennessee and my bike has sat more than usual. My first thought was; I need to wash it! I then started noticing flaws here and there on my bike, little scratches, rock chips, etc. Things only I would notice and even care about. The things that make my bike uniquely mine.
God looks at us very much the same way. We each have our flaws; our nicks that life throw’s at us, and our dust from not spending enough time with Him. All of these things make us uniquely His! He loves us as we are! Our relationship with God isn’t based on how well we look the Christian part or about do’s and don’ts. It’s about building a relationship with Him. He wants us to spend time with Him, to listen to Him as closely as we listen to the engine and our pipes as we go down the road. He wants us to speak to Him, just as we speak to our bikes (you know you do it). As we seek after Him, He seeks after us. As we grow and develop a deeper relationship with Him, He begins washing us to be more in His image. Some things are easy to clean, and then there will be the things in our life a little tougher to clean, like the spokes on the wheels. Just as we still love our bike even though it may have a scratch or ding, Christ loves us even though we have our dirt and may not feel worthy of His love. It’s not about what we do, but about what He has already done! He wants to use those things to tell His story of what He did in our lives!
Romans 9:17, “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”
