I love when I hear a great quote and God downloads on me, “For every mile of road you ride, there is 2 miles of ditch.” How true! There are lots of ditches in life. Some we initially fall into and others life puts us in. Either way we all have been in a ditch. Never fun, but in that ditch there is a moment of choice for us. We can start blaming God for the things that happen to us; or we can start praising God for the things He has done and is going to do through us because we were in that ditch. For me, when I have been in a ditch, that has been some of the best times of hearing God and Him shaping my life to where He wants me and what He wanted me to learn. Now, don’t get me wrong, this hasn’t always been the best times of my life and I hope to never be there in that same ditch, but I’m extremely grateful for what He always has done in those times and I would never trade those experiences. Psalm 4: 8; “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord make me dwell in safety.” In Joshua 1:9; “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
We need to change our perspective when we end up in a ditch. Complaining about the ditch isn’t help you or getting you out of the ditch. Bad attitudes are like flat tire, neither is good for anyone or anything until you change it! Be grateful for what He is teaching you! Stay in daily relationship with Christ. Just like you wouldn’t jump on an old bike that hasn’t been checked in years, or hopefully even stored through the winter. You go over your bike to make sure it’s safe. Do the same with Christ, stay in His Word, pray, be at church. Do life and be accountable to other brothers and sisters. This will keep you out of many ditches by it’s self! When the ditches do come, if we walk with Christ, the ditches won’t be so hard to get out of. He loves YOU! Be at peace when you are in one and know that God will see you through! Learn what He needs you to know. You never know when a brother or sister may be in that same ditch that you can help them out of.
